Example
If today is October 20, 2026, a March 8 birthday is 139 days away: Monday, March 8, 2027, which is 4 months and 16 days from today.
A person born on February 29, 2000 has their next birthday on February 28, 2027, 131 days away, and turns 27.
How it is calculated
The next birthday is the first occurrence of the month and day on or after today. If today is the birthday, the answer is 0 days. The days are calendar days, so daylight saving changes do not affect them.
February 29. In years that are not leap years, a February 29 birthday is counted on February 28, and the countdown says so. This matches the Age Calculator, where the same person turns a year older on February 28. In some places the law uses March 1 instead.
